May 12-Sauk City, WI - The Wisconsin Legends Racing Dirt Series presented by Ultimate Race Cars, VMS Motorsports, and Bulltown Legends of Iowa had an early  season high 23 cars at Beaver Dam Saturday with 4 drivers coming up from Iowa and Nelson Stewart, father of NASCAR driver Tony Stewart, making the trek up from Indiana.

 

 

Heat Race Winners: Matt Streekstra, Ethan Ross, DJ Ross

 

The Ross Brothers continued their early season dominance as DJ Ross jumped out to the early lead in the 20 lap A Main.  The only caution of the race came on lap 3 with a tangle between Austin Wiese and Scott Wiegele in turn 3.  DJ Ross kept the lead on the restart and ended up leading 19 laps of the 20 lap feature before being overtaken by his brother Ethan while negotiating through lapped  traffic.  Ethan Ross took his second Feature win in as many races at Beaver Dam, followed by DJ Ross, Adam Bell (IA), Mike Mueller, and Eric Barth.

Wisconsin Legends Racing Dirt Series

 

Presented by Ultimate Race Cars, VMS Motorsports, and Bulltown Legends of Iowa 

Heat race winners Eric Barth and Mike Mueller.

The A main rolled out led by Kevin Schutz and Kim Clover. Heat winners Mueller and Barth started deep in the field after the invert, but both began immediately started moving forward from the green flag. Ethan Ross raced forward from his 4th starting position to claim the lead on the first lap, followed by Schutz, DJ Ross, Brandon Schmitt, and Jim Bucher. DJ Ross moved around Ethan Ross for the lead on Lap 3, and held on to it until Lap 7 when he was overtaken by Mueller and brother Ethan. The Ross's and Mueller were joined at the front by Eric Barth and they put on a show for the fans. The only caution of the race flew at Lap 9 for a rollover by Jim Bucher between Turns 3&4. Mueller led the field to the restart, with Ethan Ross, DJ Ross, Barth, and Robbie Pribnow the top 5. A quick run to the checkered flag brought Mueller the victory, followed by Ethan Ross, Barth, Schmitt, and Pribnow.

Choice Insurance Wisconsin Legends Racing Dirt Series Presented By Ultimate Race Cars and VMS Motorsports

Mike Mueller and Ethan Ross came home victorious in their respective heat races.

The A Main saw Brandon Schmitt pace the first three laps from the pole. Lap four saw Eric Barth get by Schmitt to take the lead. Barth lead until lap eight when Joel Wyttenbach slipped inside Barth in turn two. It then became a three car battle between Wyttenbach, Barth and Ethan Ross. Ross would use the high side to get to the front on lap 13 only to have Wyttenbach regain the position one lap later. On lap 17 Wyttenbach broke, giving the lead back to Ross. The next lap saw Barth get by Ross, but one lap later Ross got by Barth and would claim the victory, and Barth settled for the runner up spot. Brandon Schmitt finished third, followed by Mueller and Kim Clover.
